Loya
From a humble childhood immersed in the great cultural pot of Reunion, Loya draws a huge curiosity and the humility of the craftsman, quick to tap into the rough materials of his native island to bring out a myriad of sounds. Corrugated iron and tamarind wood thus join the tumultuous vagaries of machines and their algorithms, the legacy of his twenty-some years of life in metropolitan France. Following in the footsteps of Ti Fock and other pioneers of electric maloya, Loya experienced his first electronic emotions in the mid-90s, borrowing from Intelligent Dance Music his complex rhythmic constructions and from techno bleep his dreamy layers to pose the future foundations of his own music. Throughout his research, the machines let themselves be tamed and finally manage to summon these states of trance so dear to this native of the Mascarenes whose heart beats a ternary rhythm.
